When Memphis College of Art (MCA) required more studio and classroom space for its growing graduate program, ANF assisted the college in evaluating, purchasing, and designing a 1930's property in the South Main Arts District in downtown Memphis. Providing research and design support to the college, ANF facilitated Memphis Landmarks Commission reviews of the historic property. This adaptive reuse project includes 28,000 sf of classroom and studio space with an additional 3,500 sf public art gallery. The finished school will serve more than 100 students and educators and provide four floors of educational space. Great attention is paid to maintaining and enhancing historic details inside and outside of the building and incorporating those details into a modern design and flow of spaces.
